The Basics

Hey guys it's Ruthie! Here's my post for Day 1 of the guide:

~DAY 1~:
Today is Saturday, so I'm using my time to prep for going back to school after our short holiday break. Since I didn't really introduce myself, here I go:

  • My name is Ruthie, I'm 15 years old, and a freshman in high school.

  • I guess I'm really shy, which I'm gonna work on through this blog. While doing that, I'll help discover your problems, and together, we'll strive to become "popular" in a sense.

  • I'm a typical teenage girl. I love reading fashion magazines, watching movies, and shopping. I also love sports, but I don't play any right now. :(

Now that we've got that covered, let's start our Day 1 of the guide...

Being popular is very important to a lot of teens today. But why do you want to be popular? What to you want to be popular for?

There are a variety of different kinds of popular people, we're going to focus on becoming well-liked for positive things and friends.

Since that's also covered, here are the goals for Day 1. These goals are something to help you on your mission to making more true friends, which is what REAL popularity is all about.

Goal #1: Have a conversation with someone new today. I don't care if it's a teen, a friend of a friend, or even an old lady. This will give you a little feel of socializing.

Goal #2: Pamper yourself. I don't care whether you're a boy or a girl, everyone deserves some pampering. Take a long relaxing bath and just listen to your favorite music. Bust out the nail kit and give yourself a manicure. Inviting a friend to join along will make this even more fun. But, if none are available, silence is always golden!

Goal #3: Get a journal. This might sound cheesy, but it'll help you a lot. And if you have nosy siblings and parents, you could always go to Penzu.com . It's a free website where you can sign-up and start journaling. Best thing is that it's password-protected. You can write anything in this journal. Your goals and how you've achieved them, lyrics to a song you're writing, private feelings you can't tell anyone else, etc. This way is a start so that you won't keep everything bottled up inside.

Goal #4: Go for a walk. Today's goals are mostly about helping you unwind and feel relaxed. Go for a walk or jog to relieve your stress. Sometimes, walking alone can be dangerous, so take a trusted friend and cell phone and don't forget to tell you're parents. If you cannot do that, don't walk very far from home, because this can be dangerous with or without a friend. Staying in a 2-block radius is good for a short, relaxing walk.

Goal #5: Begin quitting a bad habit. This may be talking quietly constantly. Now, this doesn't mean to YELL at everyone that passes you by, just find a middle point. Also, your bad habit could be biting your nails, or always looking angry. Whatever it is, take a small step towards ending this bad habit.

Try to acheive all 5 goals and you're one step closer to your goal of popularity. I'll complete these goals along with you so check back reguarly to see how it all went for me.
